چکیده
It is shown that several different order parameters can be used to characterize a type of P and T -violating state for spin systems, that we call chiral spin states. There is a closely related, precise notion of chiral spin liquid states. We construct soluble models, based on P and T symmetric local spin Hamiltonians, with chiral spin ground states. Mean field theories leading to chiral spin liquids are proposed. Frustration is essential in stabilizing these states. The quantum numbers of quasiparticles around the chiral spin liquids are analyzed. They generally obey fractional statistics. Based on these ideas, it is speculated that superconducting states with unusual values of the flux quantum may

Nuclear Magnetic Relaxation Rate in the Vortex State of a Chiral p-Wave Superconductor
The site-selective nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate T 1 is theoretically studied inside a vortex core in a chiral p-wave superconductor within the framework of the quasiclassical theory of superconductivity. It is found that T 1 at the vortex center depends on the sense of the chirality relative to the sense of the magnetic field. Our numerical result shows a characteristic difference in T ...
متن کاملA class of P ; T - invariant topological phases of interacting electrons
We describe a class of parityand time-reversal-invariant topological states of matter which can arise in correlated electron systems in 2+1-dimensions. These states are characterized by particle-like excitations exhibiting exotic braiding statistics. P and T invariance are maintained by a doubling of the low-energy degrees of freedom which occurs naturally without doubling the underlying micros...
متن کاملAn Electronic Model for CoO2 layer based systems: Chiral RVB metal and Superconductivity
Takada et al. have reported superconductivity in layered NaxCoO2.yH2O (Tc ≈ 5 K) and more recently Wen et al. in AxCoO2+δ (A = Na, K)(Tc ≈ 31 K). We model a reference neutral CoO2 layer as an orbitally non-degenerate spin1 2 antiferromagnetic Mott insulator on a triangular lattice and NaxCoO2.yH2O and AxCoO2+δ as electron doped Mott insulators described by a tJ model. It is suggested that at op...
متن کاملd+id' chiral superconductivity in bilayer silicene.
We investigate the structure and physical properties of the undoped bilayer silicene through first-principles calculations and find the system is intrinsically metallic with sizable pocket Fermi surfaces. When realistic electron-electron interaction turns on, the system is identified as a chiral d+id' topological superconductor mediated by the strong spin fluctuation on the border of the antife...
متن کاملEmergent Chiral Spin Liquid: Fractional Quantum Hall Effect in a Kagome Heisenberg Model
The fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) realized in two-dimensional electron systems under a magnetic field is one of the most remarkable discoveries in condensed matter physics. Interestingly, it has been proposed that FQHE can also emerge in time-reversal invariant spin systems, known as the chiral spin liquid (CSL) characterized by the topological order and the emerging of the fractionaliz...
